We’ve proposed a new design
to Jermaine Smit, a Nokia handset, that has strong Jolla elements in its identity and could fit the vibe of a “McLaren phone“, racing stripe and all. The result is the Nokia J and A devices shown below.
This is a 5 inch smartphone with a case that takes some cues from the Nokia N1 and a camera area plus stripe at the back inspired by racing cars and the ship Star Trek (look closely!). The concept Nokias come with dual tone flashes, a big camera lens and rounded case. They come in Android 5.0/Sailfish versions, with 3 GB of RAM, up to 64 GB of storage and a microSD card slot.
There’s a 30.1 megapixel camera at the back with Carl Zeiss lens and 1/1.5 inch sensor size, as well as F/2.2 aperture. The handset packs a 3100 mAh battery and weighs 121 grams. There’s a Snapdragon 810 64 bit octa core CPU inside and the McLaren Star Trek handset measures 8.7 mm in thickness. With Lumia left behind, I like this new Nokia and hope that Jolla will somehow join it.
As the video below shows, there’s an unique notification system on board. By the way, Nokia A runs Android and Nokia J runs Jolla OS/ Sailfish.
