We have heard about screens that have the ability to rise and form shapes and palpable surfaces or even physical buttons. This gets
an entirely fresh meaning, once you see the concept below. It’s called Entouch and it’s a Braille technology touchscreen phone.
A group of designers, Won-kyoung Seo, Lee Kangkyung & Hye Ryung Lee has used the tactile technology to help visually impaired users interact with touchscreens.
This is more like an external case for the handset, with an extra layer of tactility for the smartphone and a click button. You just slip your handset into the Entouch and it will translate visual data from the camera into bumps, that show what you are capturing.
This is fantastic and amazing, allowing people with visual impairments to take photos and interpret what they’re capturing. The accessory is easy to attach and detach and be used with any smartphone. The device is also fully synced with the handset, offering real time response to the motions, images and actions. A microfluidic system with thin fluid channels under the polymer layer is present here.
