Created by Ashraf Amer, the Yako phone is a modular smartphone, that feels like an upgraded next gen Galaxy Note.
We’re dealing with a layered metallic design, a 5.1 inch Full HD display and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
There’s 2 GB of RAM inside, a 16 megapixel CMOS rear camera with Xenon flash and a microSD card slot with support for up to 128 GB of storage. Upfront there’s a 2 megapixel camera and inside there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, a quad core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 unit.
This model has minimal edges and its facade also brings back the Xperias a little bit. Buttons are only virtual here and I can’t spot any physical ones.
The back clearly shows what we’re dealing with here: you can replace bits and pieces of the hardware like on the Project Ara phone for example. I’ll remind you that this is an all metal device, so you’ll be playing with a metallic design. We’ve got high quality layered modules, that can be interchanged if you want new features. Isn’t this just the perfect Christmas gift?
