Manual HTC is
confident the company's position in the Indian smartphone market. It is not going to react to the emergence of a powerful competitor on it from China - Xiaomi.
Last Friday, the Taiwanese manufacturer has launched in India just two smartphone: plastic flagship One (E8), previously available only in China, and Desire 616 belonging to the middle class. Price tags on them amounted to 34 990 (20 000) and 16,990 rupees (9,700 rubles), respectively.
For comparison, during Xiaomi Mi3, the current top-end smartphone Chinese company with a powerful "iron" flagship late last year, ask for 13,990 rupees (8,000 rubles). It turns out that even a middle class from HTC is significantly more expensive.
But the president of the Taiwanese manufacturer in South Asia Young Jack (Jack Yang) does not disturb the appearance of such a competitor in India: "Our business model differ markedly. They have a huge online sales and on this they went to China. Take Singapore, they are present there, but not very noticeable. "
He believes that in India the situation is repeated. According to him, most of the local audience gets smartphones in stores and mobile phone stores. These people prefer to hold before buying the device in his hands.
Jack Young rights or not, will only further developments. However, other manufacturers have responded to markedly Xiaomi debut in India, significantly dropping prices close to production specifications.
