Have you heard about the Dell XPS 13? Well, that’s the notebook at the bottom of the article, with very narrow bezels. Apparently, that’s what Microsoft is going to use as inspiration for the Surface Pro 4 tablet.
The device
is rumored to be unveiled on October 6th, together with the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL handsets. Now we learn that the Surface Pro 4 is going to have an edge to edge display, or better said a screen with very narrow bezels. The info apparently comes from an Arabic language website that has something do with Intel. The new Surface Pro is also rumored to have a 13 inch screen, but its edges will be almost invisible at the top and sides.
The bottom border will be kept for the sake of a Windows physical button and Microsoft is going to use a technology here called Smart Frame. This tech adds a virtual bezel to the Surface Pro 4 screen in tablet mode, making it from a 13 inch laptop into a 12 inch slate. That sounds strange and maybe we’d be happy with a regular bezel and a 12 inch screen, right?
