What’s sugar? Aside from behind one of the killers of the XXIst century and a substance present in all
modern foods, it’s also the name of a concept smartwatch, focused on health and its glucometer function. It’s developed by BOLTgroup, a product and brand innovation firm in Charlotte, NC.
This glucose watch seems taken straight out of Star Trek and its tricorders and medical gear. Sugar is a flexible and also very fashionable smart watch meant for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It’s able to show the glucose levels in an easy to read trend graph, straight from the wrist. Unlike other glucose meters, Sugar shows a continuous and real time glucose level, as it changes over time.
The device packs a flexible organic LED display and it also lets users exercise and stretch around, without damaging or deforming the device. The semi elastic design moves with the user and the product is supposed to function in tandem with Google’s glucose sensing contract lenses or an insulin pump even. It also has an app associated, that tracks the glucose level evolution.
