Google recently officially announced the release of Project Ara Module Developers Kit (MDK).
Recall that Project Ara - a project to create modular smartphone , which started back by Motorola, when she was still a part of Google. Its meaning is that the smartphone can be collected and updated if necessary op parts, as this is easily done with desktop PCs.
MDK released Toolkit gives more insight on the future platform , and offers manufacturers a guideline for the production of components for the devices ( processors , screens , wi-fi modules , batteries).
MDK in its current form says that for Project Ara provided at least three typical today chassis size : big, medium and small . It is understood that the chassis can accommodate the larger number of components greater than those that are smaller . It is expected that the gear devices are made of aluminum. And soon their only manufacturer itself will Google.
8 device modules will be located on the back of : battery, internal memory module , sensors , etc. 2 modules are expected to front : the screen and control buttons. In this case only the chassis will be branded Google. All the modules are fastened to each other by means of electromagnets .
Interestingly, the device Project Ara planned in various form factors , from gadgets to touch only those that will contain a full qwerty- keyboard or digital .
In the near future, Google plans to release a series of MDK and hold a series of conferences for developers and manufacturers.
It is expected that the first smartphones and project Project Ara will appear on store shelves in the first quarter of next year , as well as individual components for them. In addition , it is reported that Google has promised that the cost of devices and separate components will be low.
